Section 1 in the present paper takes a look at the word-order typology of languages. Section 2 mentions English, Vietnamese, and Chinese as SVO languages. The SVO properties of these languages are presented in section 4. In section 5 the syntactic forms and properties of the declarative clause as subject of the sentence in these three languages are presented. The fact is pointed out that English has that-clause as the normal form of a declarative sentential subject, while in both Vietnamese and Chinese the declarative subject clause occurs without any overt clause-introducer such as the English that. Since in all the three languages the declarative subject clause occurs without a nominal head, it is assumed that the clause is some expanded form of S, not an NP. Koster's (1978) framework for dealing with English subject that-clause is applied to declarative subject clauses in Vietnamese and Chinese. The latter two languages, however, lack overt wh-movement, which makes it difficult to adopt Koster's (1978) idea of wh-movement coupled with the satellite sentential. Finally in section 6, it is suggested that LF-level wh-movement be considered as a possible solution to the problem.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_10002_full_name_26":{"attribute_name":"著者別名","attribute_value_mlt":[{"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"524","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}],"names":[{"name":"Hashimoto, Kenichi"}]}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"橋本, 健一"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"523","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2013-03-23"}],"displaytype":"simple","filename":"KJ00000054565.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"472.7 kB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_11","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"本文(PDF)","url":"https://dcu.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/156/files/KJ00000054565.pdf"},"version_id":"9bdea70f-ae2e-43f3-a6ba-dd18d0e849c4"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"SVO言語の統語特性を探る(1) : 主語平叙節のかたち","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"SVO言語の統語特性を探る(1) : 主語平叙節のかたち"},{"subitem_title":"On Some Syntactic Properties of SVO Languages (1) : The Declarative Clause as Subject","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"10002","owner":"14","path":["26"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2013-02-20"},"publish_date":"2013-02-20","publish_status":"0","recid":"156","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["SVO言語の統語特性を探る(1) : 主語平叙節のかたち"],"weko_creator_id":"14","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-06-19T08:32:34.308525+00:00"}
